If you find yourself in Orchard Central in Singapore and in need of a sweet pick-me-up, Overscoop is an ice cream parlour that’s hard to miss. I popped by recently with a few friends after lunch, lured by their promise of inventive flavours and that signature Orchard buzz.
Overscoop impresses right away with its broad and thoughtfully curated menu. You’ll find everything from floral teas and fruity concoctions to decadent chocolate blends.
Both cones and freshly made waffles are on offer, and I was pleasantly surprised that their cones are noticeably larger than what you get at most typical ice cream shops—always a bonus for those with a real sweet tooth.
The service at Overscoop deserves a mention. Staff were genuinely warm, enthusiastic, and quick with recommendations on the most popular picks, which made the decision-making process much more fun. Payment was also fuss-free, with options like payWave, PayNow, GrabPay, and more.
We happened to visit during a DBS/POSB promotion that offered a one-for-one deal on waffles with two scoops of ice cream—a great way to sample more at a lower price point.
Another interesting quirk: Overscoop gives every customer a complimentary mini scoop alongside your chosen flavours, which is a delightful way to try something unexpected.
That said, I noticed the regular scoop on the waffles was smaller than what you’d get on a cone, so it’s something to keep in mind if portion size is a priority.
For our picks, we paired Earl Grey with Sesame and went for the 90% Chocolate alongside Pistachio—both served on waffles, naturally. Our mini scoops were White Rabbit and Hojicha, which added a nice twist to the tasting experience.
Now, the food: the waffles, though made to order, were on the softer side and a touch soggy—so if you like yours extra crisp, you might be a bit underwhelmed.
The ice creams themselves leaned towards the lighter and more refreshing side of the spectrum, rather than being bold or creamy. If you prefer your ice cream to pack a punch or to have that rich, velvety texture, this might not quite satisfy that craving.
All in all, I’d rate Overscoop a 3 out of 5 for both its inviting ambience and the overall quality of food and service.
Value for money is where it loses points: our bill came to $33.66, which feels steep considering the serving sizes—I’ve definitely found bigger and more wallet-friendly options elsewhere in town.
Still, for those days when you want to hang out somewhere relaxed, explore some quirky flavour combos, and enjoy a genuinely friendly vibe right in the heart of Orchard, Overscoop is worth a try.
